You can’t see this

Today I got picked up in an unmarked van and driven to a secret location in East Melbourne. This secret location was the former home of William Johnston, a man of exquisite taste and deep pockets. His home, a Georgian mansion, is now in the hands of the W R Johnston Trust. The home has become a museum, regularly rearranged by razzy visiting curators who get to totally rejuve the whole place! Jamie Allpress of Allpress Antiques was in residence on my visit and soon to mix it up is theĀ Australian designer Akira Isagowa.
There were so many beautiful things on display, but my personal fave’s were the Stafforshire figurines (hand painted by poor urchins in turn of the century England) and the old mirrors backed with mercury going all curdled and cloudy. Check it out!
